How to prepare for your upcoming hair appointment
General Preparations
– Bring inspiration photos and a clear idea of what you’re wanting.
– Be prepared with any questions you may have including but not limited to cost, maintenance, longevity, time you will spend in the chair and at-home hair-care products.
– Don’t arrive with wet hair. It’s best to consult about desired style while seeing the hair dry.
– Excessive products or hairsprays in the hair may cause discomfort while brushing or applying hair color.
– Don’t wear any favorite articles of clothing, turtlenecks, hoodies or anything white. The salon provides color smocks if you are more comfortable changing out of your top. If opting for a smock, you will still be draped with the appropriate cape for the service.
– Be honest with what previous color is on your hair. There is no judgement when asked however it does greatly affect formulation to achieve your desired result.
Disclaimer: If undesired results arise from not disclosing all color history, you will still be charged 100% for services rendered. Color corrections will incur additional charges.
– Bring a snack. Sometimes color services can take 3-6 hours and I want it to remain an enjoyable experience for you.
– Salon-quality shampoo is highly recommended to protect your investment. Please factor in home hair-care costs in addition to your service.
Hair Color & Highlights
– Arrive with dry hair.
– Hair should be no more than 2 days dirty when receiving color services.
– If receiving grey-coverage hair-color, its recommended to be no more than 1 day dirty. Natural oils in the hair can block penetration of hair color and reduce coverage.
– If you have a clarifying shampoo at home, please use it for your last shampoo before the service to remove build-up.
On-scalp bleach
– Arrive with dry hair.
– Arrive with hair 3+ days dirty as natural oils can protect the scalp from irritation.
– Refrain from any caffeine before your service as it can increase sensitivity.
Extensions
– Shampoo and condition your hair the morning of installation.
– Arrive with dry hair.
– Do NOT apply any leave-in products to the hair. This includes but is not limited to leave-in conditioners, detanglers, creams, frizz serums, treatments and styling aids of any kind. This can affect adhesion and extensions may “slip” out a few days after installation.
– If you have a clarifying shampoo at home, please use it for your last shampoo before the service to remove build-up.
– If you wish to do any masques, deep conditioning or protein/moisture treatments, please do so 7 days prior to your service and no closer.
– Do not arrive with wet hair. Extensions cannot be applied wet and blowdrying will take extra time and may incur additional charges.
